My Review of "The Laser Eye Warrior"

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Dhyanesh Shankar is a homeschooler, born in 2007. He has got keen interest in reading and researching about ancient Indian history and culture. Apart from this, he is also learning Carnatic Music and has qualified in Japanese Language Proficiency. He likes to similarize modern technologies and ancient Indian technologies. In this book, Dhyanesh has presented events and characters of the past, through his imaginative and compelling writing.

REVIEW OF THE BOOK:

'THE LASER EYE WARRIOR: The Legacy Of Rudra' is a novel written by Dhyanesh. This book is a spiritual fiction, where the characters are real, and the story, fictitious. The characters in this story are also described in ancient Indian texts.

The story is about the life of the avatar of Lord Shiva - Rudra. In this book, the author has considered Rudra as one of the mythical characters and not a spiritual God as religious people consider him. When Rudra was born, he was gifted with a third eye, which, presumed by the author, had the power of laser. From childhood, whenever he got angry, his third eye would split open and laser beams would gush out, to burn and destroy everything in front of him. Rudra's third eye is a sophisticated yet destructive weapon, but he considers it as a curse, rather than a gift. He has to control his rage in order to fulfill his destiny - to become the destroyer of evil, and the savior of good.

The first few chapters tell us about the creation of Satyaloka and other Lokas, about the age-old conflict between Devas and Asuras, about the war between Devas and Nagas and how Indra's most powerful weapon, the Vajra gets stolen. We also get to know about the reviving of the Vajra and Parvati's transformation. The uniqueness of the story in my opinion is, there are only some points of the story where we are able to guess what is going to happen next. Otherwise, overall, from chapter to chapter the suspense increases. The beginning and ending of each and every chapter is unexpected, which doesn't allow the reader to put the book down. As the story goes, we get to know about how Rudra burns Kama with his third eye, Rudra and Parvati's wedding and the final war [as in this story] between the Devas and the Asuras. The story is ended with the birth of Vinayaka, who is destined to continue the Legacy Of Rudra, and the Return of Rati. The end is definitely a cliffhanger, but it increases the reader's curiosity and makes him/her wait for the next book. For clear understanding of some Sanskrit words used in the story, the author has also given a glossary at the end of the book which gives the meanings of those Sanskrit words in English. This book is suitable for teenagers, adults and even senior citizens.

MY EXPERIENCE IN READING THE BOOK:

When I read any storybook, I don't read it as a text, I go inside the story mentally and live with those characters to enjoy the story. And after reading, the story would be registered in my mind, but just as a story. But when I finished reading this particular book, the events in the story are etched in my mind as if I've experienced them in real life. This may also be possible, as I am a firm believer of the eternal beings described in ancient Indian texts. But, believe I should credit the author, as it is the way of writing which has impacted me like this. The truth is, while reading and even after reading the story felt real. I am eagerly waiting for next book!

Thank You !!!
